How can I say this? These are the first two books I've ever read by Gayle Forman (how can you not love her spunky, curly, red hair?) and I must say she is a brilliant writer. I am looking forward to reading any other books by her. I can't lie, when I put If I Stay on my to be read list, it was a while ago. I didn't remember what it was suppose to be about or anything. I got it on my Kindle when it was on sale on the Daily Deals. I am so happy that happened, because this book and it's follow up: Where She Went (I bought this as soon as I was done with the other) are truly amazing.
If I Stay is about a girl named Mia. She suffers a horrific accident and is at in between between living and dying. I guess the way some people say they have an out of body experience when they almost die. She soon finds out she has the power to choose whether she lives or dies. The choice is hers and it's a tough one to make. What will she choose ? And why ? To find out read this book. It's an extremely quick read and it's so good you won't want to put it down. I had to force myself to at night so I could go to sleep and wake up for work. Why USA Today says it will appeal to fans of Twilight is beyond me besides the fact that it's a young adult novel. I think it is better and nothing like Twilight.
SPOILER ALERT!
Where She Went is from Adam's perspective. This is why I think Gayle is such a great writer. I love how detailed both of these books are about the things that happen in their lives and how she can go from a girls to a guys perspective and still be telling the same story. In this book, it's been 3 years since the accident and Mia and Adam are no longer together. He is depressed and wondering how Mia's life is going since she left. Sorry about the spoiler, but there is no way to describe what this book is about without giving the spoiler.
I suggest buying both of these together and you will be done with them in a week...possibly even a couple of days!

I might try these after I finish my current book.
Lots of otherwise good books are getting lumped in with the "Twilight" fad...ugh.
